During the meeting, President Irro and his delegation met a second group of 25 Somaliland water engineers, both men and women, who are currently undergoing specialized technical training in Israel under a program organized by MASHAV.
The training program focuses on advanced skills in water resource management, water security, sustainable water development, infrastructure planning and modern water systems management, sectors considered critical for Somaliland’s long-term development strategy.
MASHAV, one of Israel’s leading international development agencies, works globally to strengthen technical cooperation, professional training and institutional capacity building with partner countries.
President Irro praised the initiative as an important investment in Somaliland’s future, emphasizing that strengthening human capital and expanding technical expertise remain central pillars for sustainable national development.
He commended the Somaliland engineers participating in the program and encouraged them to use the knowledge gained to contribute toward solving Somaliland’s long-term water challenges and improving critical infrastructure development.
The Somaliland leader also expressed deep appreciation to MASHAV officials for their continued support in advancing technical cooperation, professional development and specialized training opportunities for Somaliland institutions.
The Minister of Water Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Mohamed Abdimaalik Ahmed, also spoke at the forum and thanked the Israeli Government for providing training to Somaliland’s water experts.
Officials said the meeting reflects the rapidly growing partnership between Somaliland and Israel, particularly in areas of development cooperation, water resource management, knowledge transfer and professional capacity building.
