Somaliland’s US Representative Attends AIPAC Congressional Summit in Washington.

Washington, D.C. (Horn post) The Head of the Republic of Somaliland’s diplomatic mission to the United States, Bashir Goth, has participated in the AIPAC Congressional Summit held in Washington, bringing Somaliland’s perspectives into discussions involving American and Israeli policymakers.

Speaking on the sidelines of the summit, Ambassador Bashir Goth said he was honored by the reception extended to Somaliland during the event, which brought together lawmakers, diplomats, and policy figures from across the political spectrum.

“I was honored by the warm welcome for Somaliland at the AIPAC Congressional Summit reception. With friends old and new — Americans and Israelis, Republicans and Democrats — we discussed our shared democratic values and common interests in the Horn of Africa,” the envoy said.

He expressed appreciation to the Israel for what he described as its historic recognition of Somaliland, and reiterated Somaliland’s intention to pursue closer engagement with international partners.

The Somaliland envoy also reaffirmed his administration’s interest in joining the Abraham Accords, while strengthening cooperation with the United States and Israel in areas including security cooperation, trade, and economic development.

During the reception, prominent American diplomat J. Peter Pham commented publicly on meeting the Somaliland representative, noting Somaliland’s growing diplomatic visibility.

“Among many friends at tonight’s AIPAC Congressional Summit reception, I was especially delighted to see Bashir Goth, head of the Republic of Somaliland’s mission in the USA,” Pham said. “Israel is the first state to officially recognize Somaliland’s restored sovereignty. It won’t be the last.”

In a statement, AIPAC highlighted the scale and scope of its political engagement in the United States, noting that its membership spans more than six million Americans from across the political spectrum, including Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. The organization said it advocates for policies that strengthen the US–Israel alliance and promote American security, economic prosperity, and global engagement.

The Somaliland delegation’s participation in the summit was viewed as part of broader efforts to advance parliamentary diplomacy, raise international awareness of Somaliland’s political position, and expand engagement with key global stakeholders.
