According to a statement from the Somali Presidency, the meeting focused on expanding the strategic partnership between Somalia and the United States, with discussions covering peacebuilding, national security, counterterrorism efforts, economic cooperation, and investment opportunities.
President Hassan Sheikh thanked the U.S. government and the American people for their continued support for Somalia, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and creating a stable security environment that encourages foreign investment and sustainable economic development.
Congressman Darin LaHood praised Somalia’s progress in rebuilding state institutions, improving national stability, and advancing operations against militant groups. He also reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the United States and Somalia.
The meeting comes as Somalia and the United States continue to deepen collaboration on regional security and economic development amid ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and attract international investment.
