Hargeisa (hornpost.com/) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro), today visited the headquarters of the General Command of the Correctional Service in the center of the capital Hargeisa.
When the president went there, he was welcomed and received by the commander of the police force, Brigadier General Ahmed Awale Yusuf (Libah) and received honor of guard from the units of the Correctional army, while inspecting and observing the different parts of the command.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), who made a speech on various aspects, first of all praised the police forces, and explained their importance to the nation, and said "The Correctional Force is an institution of special importance for the protection of public safety and security, and its duties are central to the strengthening of law and order.
I commend you for fulfilling your duty to the nation, your job is not only to treat the prisoner well, and the Constitution has entrusted you with correcting the behavior and rehabilitating the prisoner."
The president of Somaliland has told the correctional forces in the country's prisons that they are included in the salary increase of other forces in Somaliland that his government is doing for them
“In order to make this work possible, we will build the knowledge, experience and equipment of the police forces, as well as the other forces in the country, you will be like the other forces in the country in terms of salary increase and health care and education," said President Abdirahman Cirro.
President Cirro also underlined that the prisoners in Somaliland prisons will be educated “Also, we will strengthen the education that prisoners receive within the prisons, and soon we will start setting up a special curriculum for the education of prisoners, and it is an initiative that we want to improve the future of the prisoner."
Finally, the President emphasized the urgent need for the construction of dedicated facilities for female and juvenile detainees. He acknowledged the challenges faced by women and children in existing facilities and pledged to address these issues as a priority.
