Somaliland President Urges Newly Appointed Officials to Uphold Integrity and Public Service.
HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) — President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Cirro has called on newly appointed government officials to serve the public with integrity, diligence and a strong sense of national responsibility, according to a statement released by the presidency.
During a meeting described as both advisory and motivational, the president addressed a group of officials recently assigned to key national roles, emphasizing the importance of ethical leadership and accountability in public office.
Cirro urged the appointees to remain committed to the responsibilities entrusted to them, stressing that public office is temporary and should be treated as a duty rather than a privilege. He underscored that leadership positions are part of a continuous transition of authority, requiring officials to safeguard the reputation and dignity of the nation throughout their tenure.
“The responsibilities of national office are not permanent but are handed over in succession,” the statement said, highlighting the president’s call for officials to uphold the country’s image and public trust during their time in office.
The president further encouraged the officials to demonstrate professionalism, transparency and hard work in carrying out their duties, aligning their efforts with the broader goals of national development and effective governance.
In response, the newly appointed officials expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in them and pledged to discharge their duties with honesty, efficiency and a deep sense of public accountability.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by the Somaliland administration to strengthen institutional performance and reinforce standards of good governance across government bodies.
