Garowe, Puntland (Horn Post) — Puntland security forces said they carried out a planned security operation in the Laag area on Tuesday, dismantling an armed group that authorities accused of carrying out a series of activities aimed at undermining security and stability in the region.
According to a statement issued by Puntland authorities, the armed group had been involved in security-related incidents and actions that disrupted peace and public order across parts of Puntland in recent weeks.
During the operation, security forces seized military vehicles, a cache of weapons of various types, and detained a number of suspected members of the group.
Authorities said follow-up operations remain underway to locate and apprehend other suspects who fled during the raid, adding that security personnel continue efforts to secure the area and restore stability.
Puntland security forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting public safety and maintaining peace and stability across the region.
The authorities did not disclose the number of casualties or detainees, and the claims made in the statement could not be independently verified.
