SANAA, Yemen (HornPost) Yemen’s Houthi-run Al-Masirah television network has reported airstrikes in the capital, Sanaa, and the coastal city of Mokha, claiming that the attacks caused deaths and injuries as tensions in the country continue.
According to reports carried by Houthi-affiliated media, strikes in Sanaa killed and injured several people. The same sources reported nearly 20 strikes in Mokha, in Yemen’s Taiz governorate, and said aircraft continued flying over the area.
The claims have not been independently verified. The available reports also do not establish conclusively who carried out the strikes.
According to the reports, the alleged strikes targeted areas in Sanaa province, including Asr and Hamdan. Houthi-affiliated media also reported strikes on a house and accommodation for cement factory workers.
An AFP report published Saturday said Houthi media reported at least 11 deaths in Sanaa province, including women and a child. The reported casualties have not been independently verified.
Saudi officials did not immediately respond to the allegations of airstrikes, according to Anadolu Agency. However, the Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward Saudi cities, including Taif and Yanbu.
The latest reports come amid renewed fighting between Yemen’s internationally recognized government, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, and the Houthis, who have controlled Sanaa since 2014.
The conflict has caused widespread destruction and a prolonged humanitarian crisis. The latest exchange of attacks also raises concerns about further escalation across Yemen and the wider region.
