Berbera (Horn post) Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Irro), the President of Somaliland, on Tuesday paid a working visit to Berbera, where he officially inaugurated several key development projects aimed at enhancing the city’s infrastructure, public services, urban aesthetics, and local economic growth.
During the visit, the President formally opened a number of newly constructed roads across Berbera.
The road projects are expected to ease traffic flow, improve connectivity between neighborhoods, and support commercial activities in the port city.
President Irro also inaugurated Egal Park, a modern public recreational space designed to provide residents with an area for leisure and social gatherings.
The park is intended to improve the city’s visual appeal while contributing to tourism potential and overall quality of life for the local community.
In addition, the President officially launched the new headquarters of the Berbera Local Government Authority, a modern administrative complex aimed at strengthening service delivery and improving institutional efficiency at the municipal level. The new facility is seen as part of broader efforts to advance good governance and institutional development.
All the projects were implemented by the Berbera Municipal Authority and reflect ongoing cooperation between the central government and local administrations.
The initiatives underscore the municipality’s commitment to sustainable urban development and improved public services.
In his closing remarks, President Irro commended the Berbera district administration for its efforts in supporting education and healthcare services. He reiterated that the national government would continue to scale up its support for infrastructure development and social services across Somaliland’s regions.
