HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn Post) – Somaliland’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Development has outlined a series of new priorities aimed at strengthening public finance management, increasing government revenue and improving institutional transparency following its quarterly performance review covering April through June 2026.
The meeting, chaired by Finance and Economic Development Minister Abdillahi Hassan Aden, brought together senior ministry officials, including Minister of State Ismail Mowlid Abdillahi and Director General Mohamed Hassan Suleiman, to assess departmental performance and establish priorities for the coming quarter.
Officials reviewed progress made over the previous three months, evaluating key achievements, operational challenges and measures needed to improve efficiency across the ministry.
Among the meeting’s major outcomes was a renewed commitment to accelerate domestic revenue collection, reinforce transparency and accountability in public financial management, strengthen staff capacity through professional development and ensure strict compliance with Somaliland’s civil service regulations.
“The ministry remains committed to strengthening revenue mobilization while promoting transparency, accountability and efficient public financial management,” officials said following the meeting.
The ministry also resolved to provide the public with regular updates on development projects financed through the national budget, a move intended to enhance government transparency and increase public awareness of state-funded investments.
Officials further agreed to improve workplace conditions to boost employee productivity and institutional efficiency across the ministry.
“Sharing information about government-funded projects with the public is an important step toward improving accountability and reinforcing confidence in public institutions,” the meeting concluded.
At the close of the session, ministry leaders instructed all departments to fully implement the decisions reached during the review and align their activities with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development’s 2024–2028 Strategic Plan as well as its annual operational framework.
The ministry said the measures are intended to support sustainable economic growth, strengthen fiscal governance and improve the delivery of public financial services across Somaliland.
