Dubai – (Horn Post) DP World has announced a new leadership structure following the resignation of its long-serving chairman, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, according to a company statement.
Under the newly announced changes, Essa Kazim has been appointed as the new Chairman of DP World, while Yuvraj Narayan has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The company said the leadership transition is intended to ensure continuity and strengthen DP World’s strategic direction as it continues to expand its global ports, logistics, and supply chain operations. DP World operates across multiple regions, including the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
While DP World did not provide detailed reasons for Sultan Bin Sulayem’s resignation, the company expressed confidence that the new leadership team would maintain operational stability and advance its long-term growth objectives.
DP World is also a major investor in the Berbera Port in Somaliland, where it holds operational control under a long-term concession agreement.
The company has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in expanding and modernizing Berbera Port, positioning it as a strategic logistics hub along the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden corridor. The investment includes port infrastructure upgrades, container terminal expansion, and the development of the Berbera Corridor linking the port to inland markets.
DP World’s involvement in Berbera is regarded as one of the largest foreign direct investments in Somaliland and a key driver of regional trade and economic activity.
DP World is regarded as one of the world’s leading port and logistics operators, playing a significant role in international trade and infrastructure development, particularly across Africa and emerging markets.
