BOSASO, Puntland (Horn Post) — Senior Puntland government officials conducted a working visit to Bosaso Port on Tuesday to assess the progress of round-the-clock commercial operations, highlighting the port’s growing role as a key trade and economic gateway for the semi-autonomous region.
The delegation was led by Puntland Deputy Minister of Ports and Marine Transport Eng. Mohamed Ali Mareykan, accompanied by State Minister Mohamed Saed, who toured the port’s operational facilities and reviewed ongoing logistics, cargo handling, and export activities.
The inspection focused on the export of live livestock, the unloading of imported goods, and other essential port services that continue around the clock to meet the demands of businesses and consumers across Puntland.
Also participating in the visit were the Director of the Maritime Department, DP World Operations Director Osman Jama Shibin, representatives of the business community, and other officials involved in port management and development.
Officials commended the continuous efforts of Bosaso Port’s workforce, describing the facility as a critical driver of Puntland’s economy. They emphasized the port’s contribution to facilitating regional trade, supporting economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and ensuring the efficient delivery of essential goods and services.
Bosaso Port is currently experiencing strong commercial activity, with simultaneous livestock exports, cargo imports, and other logistics operations taking place. Puntland authorities said the level of activity demonstrates the port’s capacity to provide uninterrupted services to businesses and residents, operating 24 hours a day as one of the region’s most important maritime trade hubs.
