Hargeisa (hornpost.com/) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency, Abdiramhan Mohamed Abdilahi (Cirro) together with the Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Mohamed Aw Ali Abdi, held an important meeting with the Commission National Elections (NEC) before the President departs for UAE travel.
This meeting was the first during the President's tenure in the country, the President thanked KDQ for their visit to the President.

The meeting held by the National Electoral Commission (NEC) with the President was an interview and consultation on the upcoming elections, on 31.05.2026, and they thanked the President for the meeting he had with him.
The commission gave the President a general briefing on the smooth running of the activities represented by the Somaliland NEC in the Somaliland nation.
The commission told the President that it has completed an in-depth study related to the review of the past elections (Post Election Review) and the recommendation of the issues that need to be corrected.
Also, the National Electoral Commission discussed with the President the preparation of funds for the upcoming elections.
The President praised Somaliland NEC for the implementation of the sensitive Presidential Election held in the country on 13.11.2024. The President told KDQ that they have shown efficiency, responsibility, maturity and perseverance that they have put their responsibility in the Presidential elections to be successful.
The President told the National Electoral Commission of the Republic of Somaliland (NEC) to review and study any errors and obstacles that have arisen in the past election, how to overcome and correct the challenges and lessons we can learn from them so that we can be aware of them in the future that challenge for them.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland has assured Somaliland NEC that he will fulfill the promise made by the President of the Republic of Somaliland to community that there will be no delay in the elections, so that the upcoming elections will be held by God's will scheduled for 31/05/2026.
On the other hand, the President of the Republic of Somaliland told Somaliland NEC and promised that the Government of Unity and Action, which he is in charge of, is ready to provide any funds spent on holding the elections.
The President also told Somaliland NEC that they will be part and leader in the reform that will be done in the country's election process and also the review of the voter registration process.
Finally, the President instructed the National Electoral Commission to prepare the map and plan for the Elections of the Houses of Representatives and Local Government (Election Road Map), the elections will be held in the country on 31/05/2026.
