JERUSALEM (Horn post) The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Somaliland has officially denied reports claiming that Somaliland Defense Minister Mohamed Yusuf Ali gave an interview to Reuters or other international media outlets regarding cooperation between Somaliland and Israel.
In a written statement released through his official communication channels, Minister Mohamed Yusuf Ali dismissed reports circulating in international and Arab media, including claims referenced by Reuters and Al Arabiya English, as false and misleading.
The ministry said the defense minister had not provided any interview, statement, or comment to Reuters, Al Arabiya English, or any other media organization concerning Somaliland-Israel relations or security cooperation.
According to the official statement, reports attributing such comments to the minister are “false, baseless, and misleading,” and do not reflect Somaliland’s official position.
“The Ministry categorically rejects these inaccuracies and urges media organizations, journalists and the public to rely solely on official government communications and verified sources,” the statement said.
The ministry also strongly condemned what it described as the spread of misinformation and disinformation capable of misrepresenting Somaliland’s official policies and undermining public trust in credible information.
Officials emphasized that the Republic of Somaliland remains committed to transparency and responsible public communication through authorized government institutions.
The clarification comes amid heightened international attention surrounding the growing diplomatic and strategic engagement between Somaliland and Israel following recent high-level meetings involving Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro during his official visit to Israel.
The Ministry of Defense reaffirmed that any official position concerning Somaliland’s international partnerships will only be communicated through verified government channels.
