Davos (Horn post) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), last night held a historic meeting and state dinner in the city of Davos, Switzerland with the President of the State of Israel, His Excellency Isaac Herzog, and Eric Trump, the son of the President of the United States of America.
This meeting marked a historic turning point, opening a new chapter in diplomatic relations and strategic cooperation between the Republic of Somaliland and the State of Israel.
Held in an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust, and shared interests, the two Presidents engaged in in-depth discussions on vital mutual priorities, particularly the strengthening of state-to-state relations and the development of cooperation in the areas of security, defense, technology, agriculture, water resources, healthcare, energy, and mining, as well as social cooperation and joint efforts to promote peace and stability in the Horn of Africa region.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland expressed profound gratitude to the President, Government, and people of Israel for the official recognition granted by the State of Israel to the Republic of Somaliland on 26 December 2025, describing it as a courageous and historic step. He emphasized that this recognition, coming 34 years later, has firmly affirmed the legitimate right of the people of Somaliland to exist as an independent state within the international community.
The state dinner meeting was also attended by Eric Trump, the son of the President of the United States.
President Abdirahman Irro made it clear to the President of Israel that the Republic of Somaliland is a genuine and reliable partner, and that its people never forget those who stand by them. He further highlighted that Somaliland is a peace-loving and responsible nation, distinguished by stability, democracy, good governance, and respect for the rule of law.
This historic meeting between the Presidents of Israel and the Republic of Somaliland, together with the son of the U.S. President, clearly demonstrates that the Republic of Somaliland has entered a new era of international recognition, trust, and friendship, while further strengthening its role as a responsible state capable of contributing meaningfully to global peace and security.
