Djibouti City, –(Hornpost) October 14, 2025, A trilateral meeting focusing on maritime security in the Red Sea was held in Djibouti, bringing together the Coast Guard Commanders of Somaliland, Yemen, and Djibouti. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Djibouti Coast Guard.
During the discussions, the three commanders reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation in protecting the Red Sea, promote joint efforts on shared maritime interests, and prevent security threats or illegal activities in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
The Commander of the Somaliland Coast Guard, Admiral Ahmed Hure Haariye, highlighted Somaliland’s significant role—both as a nation and as a maritime security force—in protecting the southern entrance of the Red Sea and the maritime boundaries shared with Djibouti and Yemen. He emphasized the need for broader regional cooperation to ensure clean, safe, and secure waters free from disruption or potential threats.
The Commander of the Yemeni Coast Guard, Khalid Ali Mohamed Salah, reaffirmed Yemen’s commitment to safeguarding the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, stressing the importance of joint efforts to prevent foreign interference and regional security risks.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the Djibouti Coast Guard, Wacays Omar Boqore, highlighted the need for continued close collaboration among the three countries to ensure the Red Sea remains safe, secure, and trustworthy for all vessels navigating these waters.
The meeting reaffirmed the long-standing partnership among Somaliland, Yemen, and Djibouti in maritime security, information sharing, and joint operations across the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, strengthening their shared commitment to regional stability.
