Hargeisa – (Hornpost) The Presidency has released a statement detailing a high-level consultative meeting between President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro) and the leadership of Somaliland’s three national parties — WADDANI, KAAH and KULMIYE.
According to the statement, each party was represented by three senior officials, while the President was accompanied by the Ministers of the Presidency, National Planning, and Telecommunications & Technology.
The meeting, described as part of the President’s ongoing national consultation forums, focused on key national issues including:
Somaliland’s international recognition efforts,
The escalating dispute with Somalia over airspace administration and the e-Visa policy, and
Progress in the Erigavo peace initiative, which the President said had achieved “meaningful breakthroughs.”
President Cirro briefed the party leaders on the overall security situation in the country, ongoing diplomatic engagements, and government measures to counter challenges arising from Somalia’s recent aviation and immigration actions.
A major portion of the meeting centered on ensuring free, fair and timely national elections. The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fulfilling all constitutional obligations, including fully funding voter registration and the upcoming electoral processes.
The leaders of the three parties welcomed the consultation, shared detailed views, and emphasized the need for elections to take place on schedule, leaving technical preparations to the National Electoral Commission in collaboration with political parties.
