HARGEISA, April 26, 2026 (Horn post) Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, President of the Republic of Somaliland, condemned an attempted attack targeting U.S. President Donald Trump, expressing shock and solidarity with the United States.
“I am deeply shocked and saddened by the attempted attack on U.S. President Donald Trump,” Irro said in a statement. “I am relieved that the President, the Vice President, the First Lady, and all others are safe.”
He reiterated Somaliland’s firm stance against political violence, emphasizing that such acts have no place in democratic societies.
“Somaliland unequivocally rejects all forms of political violence; there is no place for it in a democracy. We stand firmly with the United States,” he added.
The statement aligns with broader international reactions condemning political violence and reaffirming support for democratic stability.
