London (Horn post) The Embassies of Somaliland and Israel in the United Kingdom have highlighted growing bilateral relations following a joint Iftar dinner hosted by Somaliland’s diplomatic mission in London.
The event brought together officials from both embassies, providing an opportunity to observe the Muslim holy month tradition of Iftar while promoting shared values of hospitality, generosity, and reflection.
In a joint press statement, the two sides said the gathering underscored the importance of religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and cross-cultural engagement, particularly amid ongoing global uncertainties.
The statement noted that the Iftar served not only as a cultural and religious occasion but also as a platform to reaffirm cooperation and strengthen diplomatic ties between Somaliland and Israel.
Relations between the two sides have continued to expand since Israel formally recognized Somaliland in December 2025, with both parties’ expressing commitment to deepening engagement in diplomatic, economic, and cultural fields.
Daniela Grudsky-Ekstein, Chargé affairs at the Embassy of Israel in the United Kingdom, attended the event and welcomed the invitation, expressing appreciation for the growing partnership and the hospitality extended by Somaliland’s Ambassador Said Hassan Bihi.
Both embassies emphasized that initiatives bringing together different cultures and faiths remain vital for building trust, enhancing mutual understanding, and laying the groundwork for long-term cooperation.
