
HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) Somaliland’s Ministry of Interior and Security Affairs held a high-level meeting with officials from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Thursday to discuss strengthening cooperation on security, migration management and institutional development.
The meeting was chaired by Minister of State for Interior and Security Affairs Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed, known as Magalo, at his office in Hargeisa.
During the discussions, both sides reviewed ongoing partnerships between the ministry and IOM and explored opportunities to expand collaboration in areas related to border management, migration governance, security coordination and capacity building.
Ahmed praised IOM for its continued support to Somaliland’s security and migration institutions, emphasizing the importance of sustained cooperation to address evolving regional and international challenges.
“IOM remains an important partner in supporting the ministry’s efforts to enhance security and improve migration management systems,” Ahmed said.
IOM officials welcomed the meeting and expressed appreciation for the ministry’s commitment to partnership and institutional development. They reaffirmed their readiness to continue working closely with Somaliland authorities on shared priorities.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Interior and Security Affairs, senior security commanders and several departmental directors.
