The cabinet reviewed a range of national issues, including the country’s security situation, economic reforms, fuel and commodity prices, foreign exchange market conditions, and preparations for regional and international sporting events.
Cabinet Reviews National Security
Somaliland’s Minister of Interior and National Security, Abdalle Mohamed Arab, briefed the Cabinet on the country’s overall security and stability.
The minister emphasized that national security remains a key pillar of stability and development in Somaliland. He said government security institutions are continuing to strengthen coordination, vigilance and cooperation to protect peace and public order.
According to the minister’s briefing, the overall security situation in Somaliland remains stable, while security agencies are prepared to safeguard the country’s security, sovereignty and public safety.
Government Highlights Digital Financial Reforms
The Cabinet also received a briefing on the state of Somaliland’s economy from State Minister for Finance and Economic Development Ismail Mawliid Abdilaahi.
The minister said the Ministry of Finance has been working to reform and modernize the country’s public financial management systems.
As part of those efforts, the ministry has introduced a new electronic system designed to modernize and strengthen the management of financial-value documents, including licenses, permits and certificates.
The minister outlined the objectives and expected benefits of the digital system, saying the reforms are intended to improve the administration and management of government financial documentation.
Fuel and Commodity Prices Discussed
Somaliland’s Minister of Trade and Tourism, Abdirahman Hassan Nur, briefed the Cabinet on developments affecting fuel and commodity prices across the country.
The discussion covered market price movements, fluctuations in foreign exchange rates, government monitoring of fuel supplies and efforts to verify national fuel stocks.
The minister attributed recent increases in fuel and commodity prices partly to global market pressures, particularly the security situation in the Middle East.
The issue has become a significant concern for households and businesses because changes in fuel prices can affect transportation costs, food prices and the broader cost of living.
Somaliland Plans Sports Infrastructure Improvements
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed-Yasin Mohamed Farah, presented a report on preparations for the Somaliland regional football championship and the ministry’s plans to rehabilitate and develop sports stadiums across the country’s regions.
The minister also informed the Cabinet that an international half-marathon is expected to be held in Somaliland, particularly in Hargeisa, with athletes from as many as 11 countries expected to participate this year.
According to the minister, hosting the international athletics event could provide Somaliland with an opportunity to promote athletics, develop the country’s sporting sector and strengthen international sporting ties.

The 74th Cabinet meeting brought together several areas of government policy, ranging from national security and economic modernization to the cost of fuel and consumer goods and the development of sports infrastructure.
