Hargeisa, (Hornpost) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), has emphasized the public’s expectations that the National Electoral Commission organize and deliver elections on time.
The President made the remarks during a swearing-in ceremony for Mr. Abdirisaq Mohamed Said, who was recently appointed and approved as a new member of the National Electoral Commission by the House of Representatives.
The constitutional oath was administered in front of the President by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and Constitutional Court, Mr. Adan Haji Ali Ahmed, in accordance with Article 28, Clauses 3 and 4 of the National Elections and Voter Registration Law – Law No. 91/2023.
The ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace and reflected the government’s strong commitment to upholding the rule of law, the Constitution, and institutional integrity in Somaliland.
In his address, President Cirro welcomed the newly sworn-in commissioner and advised him to carry out his duties with dedication and integrity. The President then directed a clear message to the entire Electoral Commission:
“The public expects the Electoral Commission to deliver the elections.”
This statement underscores the administration’s focus on democratic continuity and the timely execution of electoral processes in Somaliland.
