Hargeisa, (Hornpost) In a high-energy final that showcased the rising talent in Somaliland’s boxing scene, Ibrahim Koodbuur District emerged victorious in the Middleweight Boxing Tournament for districts across the capital, Hargeisa.
Organized by the Somaliland Boxing Association, the tournament concluded with an electrifying final match between Ibrahim Koodbuur District and 26 June District. The event attracted a strong local audience and highlighted the growing passion for boxing among Somaliland’s youth.
The Championship Belt was awarded to Mr. Nasir Kayze, the skilled boxer representing Ibrahim Koodbuur District, after a powerful performance that secured his place as the tournament’s standout athlete.
“This tournament is part of our ongoing efforts to support young athletes and build a strong future for boxing in Somaliland,” said Mr. Abdirisak Faysal Isse, Chairman of the Somaliland Boxing Association. “We are proud of the discipline and sportsmanship displayed by all the competitors.”
About the Tournament
The Middleweight Boxing Tournament featured district-level teams from across Hargeisa, bringing together promising boxers for a series of elimination rounds leading to the final. The competition aimed to: Promote youth participation in sports, Identify future national-level boxing talents, Foster unity and healthy competition between districts.
This initiative is part of the Association’s wider goal to expand boxing programs and provide training opportunities for young athletes of the Republic of Somaliland.
