Mogadishu (Hornpost) The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, referring to the proposal of the Ministry of Interior, Federal & Reconciliation of the Federal Government, S, appointed Mr. DR. HASSAN MOHAMED HUSSEIN MUUNGAB, Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu.
The President based this appointment on the knowledge and work experience of Governor DR. HASSAN MOHAMED HUSSEIN MUUNGAB, who previously held this position, played a good role in the reconstruction of the city of Mogadishu and in general the development of services provided by the administration of Banadir Region.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud urged the new Governor to give priority to the development of the capital, reconciliation, strengthening cooperation between the security agencies and the community of Banadir Region, the beauty and broadcasting of basic services, all of which are a challenge for the government.
The President of the Republic wished the new Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, that God will ease this heavy responsibility, stressing that all government agencies that work together should work closely with the new Administration of Banadir Region.
In this Presidential Decree, the new Governor of Banadir Region, who is the Mayor of Mogadishu, Mr. DR. HASSAN MOHAMED HUSSEIN MUUNGAB came into effect today, Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
The second time appointment from Hassan Sheikh
General Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungab, for the first time as the Governor of Banadir Region and the Mayor of Mogadishu, was appointed by President Hassan Sheikh in 2014 for his first term and he removed him from that position in 2015 and then appointed him as the Minister of State for the Ministry of Justice of the Federal Government of Somalia in 2016 until 2017.
