
HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) The Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) and the opposition KAAH party have reached a comprehensive agreement, formally restoring cooperation after months of consultations and discussions.
In a statement issued by the Somaliland National Electoral Commission, both sides announced that negotiations held over several months concluded successfully, resulting in a full understanding between the commission and the opposition party.
The agreement was finalized during a key meeting held on Tuesday at the National Electoral Commission headquarters in Hargeisa, attended by senior KAAH party leaders and members of the commission.
According to the statement, the breakthrough paves the way for the resumption of official cooperation between the two institutions, with KAAH representatives assigned to work with the commission expected to immediately return to their duties.
The KAAH party also released a separate statement confirming the agreement and expressing its commitment to renewed collaboration with the Somaliland National Electoral Commission.
Both parties described the talks as constructive and said the meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to work together in support of Somaliland’s electoral process and democratic development.
