HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) — Former Minister of Communication and Technology Jamaal Mohamed Jama on Saturday urged residents of the Sool and Buuhoodle regions to prioritize peace and coexistence, following his formal handover of the ministry.
Speaking after transferring his duties, Jamaal emphasized the importance of unity and stability, calling on traditional leaders in Sool to play a central role in promoting lasting peace and reconciliation based on mutual respect and cooperation.
Former Minister of Communication and Technology Jamaal Mohamed Jama appealed directly to local communities, encouraging them to work toward harmony within Somaliland. “To the people of Sool and Buuhoodle, I say let us come together in peace and coexistence within Somaliland,” he said.
The remarks come amid ongoing efforts by authorities and community leaders to ease tensions and strengthen social cohesion in parts of eastern Somaliland, where disputes have periodically affected stability.
Jamaal’s statement underscores the role of political and traditional leadership in fostering dialogue and preventing conflict, as Somaliland continues to pursue broader goals of peacebuilding and regional stability.
