Washington, D.C. (Horn post) — Former U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that global oil prices would “drop like a rock” if a deal is reached with Iran to end the ongoing conflict.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said there is a “very serious chance” of securing an agreement but cautioned that no outcome is guaranteed. “We have a very serious chance at a deal,” he said, adding, “that doesn’t mean it will happen — I guarantee nothing.”
Oil prices have surged significantly since the conflict began, amid growing concerns over supply disruptions. Tehran has previously threatened maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route for oil exports.
Trump further stated that negotiations between the United States and Iran would focus on a 15-point framework aimed at ending the war. He emphasized that Iran abandoning its nuclear weapons ambitions would be the top priority. “Number one, two, and three is no nuclear weapons,” he said.
However, Trump also signaled support for broader political change in Iran, stating that he would like to see “a very real form of regime change.”
The remarks come amid heightened geopolitical tensions and volatility in global energy markets, as investors closely monitor developments surrounding the conflict and potential diplomatic efforts.
