HARGEISA (Horn post) The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro), and the delegation he led on Monday safely returned to the country following a historic and highly successful official visit to Davos, Switzerland, where he took part in the Annual World Economic Forum (WEF).
The forum brought together world leaders, senior politicians, diplomats, and global business figures. During his stay in Davos, President Irro presented Somaliland’s case with strategic clarity and long-term vision before an audience of international leaders and major investors, clearly articulating the legal, historical, and political basis of Somaliland’s right to exist as an independent state and a full member of the international community.
At the WEF, the Somaliland President delivered a compelling address highlighting the country’s achievements over more than 34 years in building a state founded on peace, stability, democracy, good governance, and the rule of law. He emphasized that Somaliland fully merits international recognition and formal integration into the global community of nations.
President rro also showcased Somaliland’s vast investment potential, particularly in agriculture, livestock trade, mining and energy, natural resources, economic infrastructure, and regional trade connectivity. He stressed that Somaliland is a secure, reliable, and investor-friendly destination, open to sustainable and mutually beneficial economic partnerships.
In addition, the President held a series of meetings and high-level engagements with international leaders, institutions, and organizations, further strengthening Somaliland’s profile and visibility on the global stage.
While in Davos, President Irro reiterated to the international community that Somaliland is not seeking aid or handouts, but rather recognition, respect, and partnerships based on shared interests, peace, and development. He affirmed Somaliland’s readiness to play a constructive role in promoting stability, trade, and security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.
