Hargeisa (Hornpost) The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, today attended the closing ceremony of the Annual Islamic Gathering held in Hargeisa.
The event, which lasted several days, officially opened on September 25, 2025, under the leadership of the Minister of Religion and Endowments, Sheikh Abdullahi-Bashe Dahir Jama.
Each year, Hargeisa hosts the Islamic Gathering, which brings together more than 70,000 participants from across Somaliland, neighboring countries, and around the world. The gathering also features renowned scholars and leading experts in Islamic knowledge and teachings.
Over the years, the Hargeisa Islamic Gathering has grown into an international event of great significance. Its primary objectives include strengthening faith and adherence to Islamic values, raising public awareness, and fostering unity and solidarity among Muslims worldwide.
The annual gathering holds profound importance for Somaliland, as it has positioned the capital, Hargeisa, as a hub for Islamic learning and dissemination, as well as a symbol of peace, stability, unity, and coexistence among Muslim communities. This has further elevated Somaliland’s reputation on the global stage.
