BERBERA, Somaliland (Horn post) Deputy Director of the Somaliland Ports Authority, Abokor Awil Omar, on Saturday welcomed a delegation of business leaders and investors from the United Arab Emirates to the strategic port city of Berbera during an official investment and inspection visit.
The delegation toured multiple sections of the Port of Berbera, where they received briefings on the port’s expanding infrastructure, operational services and ongoing development projects aimed at strengthening Berbera’s role as a regional trade hub in the Horn of Africa.
The visiting investors also inspected the Berbera Fishing Port and modern fish storage facilities, assessing investment opportunities in maritime trade, fisheries and seafood processing sectors.
Speaking during the visit, Deputy Director Abokor Awil Omar highlighted the strategic importance of Berbera Port and its growing contribution to regional economic growth and international trade connectivity.
He said Somaliland remains open to foreign investment that supports economic development, infrastructure expansion and job creation across the country.
The visit underscores increasing commercial interest from Gulf investors in Berbera, as Somaliland continues to position itself as a key gateway for trade and logistics in East Africa.
