
HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) Minister of Planning and National Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Kalton Sheikh Hassan Abdi, has officially bid farewell to UNICEF Somaliland Chief Tedla Mezemir Damte as he concludes his assignment in Somaliland.
During a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in Hargeisa, the minister commended Damte for his leadership and productive partnership with the Government of Somaliland, highlighting his contributions to programs that have advanced education, healthcare, child protection, water access and sanitation services.
Abdi expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s continued support to Somaliland’s development priorities and wished Damte success in his future responsibilities.
“His commitment and collaboration have played an important role in supporting programs that improve the lives of children and communities across Somaliland,” the minister said.
For his part, Damte thanked the Government of Somaliland and the Ministry of Planning and National Development for their cooperation and support throughout his tenure. He noted that progress achieved in child welfare and community development programs was the result of strong partnership and collective efforts between UNICEF and Somaliland institutions.
The meeting underscored the long-standing cooperation between Somaliland and UNICEF in promoting children’s rights, strengthening public services and supporting sustainable development initiatives.
