KUWAIT CITY (Horn Post) — Kuwait has strongly condemned what it described as repeated drone attacks by Iran and Iran-backed groups targeting the Al-Abdali border crossing with Iraq, calling the incidents an “unjustifiable act of aggression” that threatens the country’s sovereignty and regional stability.
In a statement posted on X, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attacks constituted a clear violation of the country’s sovereignty and posed a direct threat to its national security. The ministry said the incidents also breached international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
“Kuwait rejects these unjustifiable attacks and considers their continuation a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of both Kuwait and the wider region,” the ministry said.
The ministry added that the repeated drone strikes reflected what it described as an organized pattern of aggression that could further inflame tensions across the Middle East.
Separately, Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that multiple drones targeted the Al-Abdali border crossing, which connects Kuwait and Iraq, on Thursday evening.
According to the ministry, the attacks caused material damage but resulted in no fatalities or injuries.
The ministry’s official spokesperson said the relevant security and military authorities immediately launched the necessary response measures following the incidents and are continuing their assessment of the situation.
The statement did not provide evidence supporting the allegation that Iran or Iran-backed groups were responsible for the attacks, and there has been no immediate public response from Tehran regarding Kuwait’s accusations.
The reported drone strikes come amid heightened regional tensions, with security concerns increasing across the Gulf following a series of cross-border incidents involving armed groups and unmanned aerial vehicles.
