Israel Introduces Electronic Travel Authorization for Somaliland Passport Holders

HARGEISA (Horn Post) — Holders of Somaliland passports can travel to Israel by obtaining travel authorization through Israel’s Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL) system, allowing eligible visitors to enter the country for short-term stays of up to 90 days.

Under the Israeli entry system, travelers must secure an approved ETA-IL before departing for Israel. The electronic authorization currently costs 25 Israeli shekels (NIS) and is valid for visits of up to 90 days per trip.

Applications are submitted online through Israel’s official Entry to Israel portal. The Israeli Population and Immigration Authority advises travelers to apply for the authorization at least 72 hours before booking flights or accommodation to allow sufficient time for processing.

The ETA-IL is an electronic pre-travel authorization and does not replace standard immigration procedures upon arrival. Israeli border authorities retain the final decision on admission in accordance with the country’s immigration laws.

The move provides a streamlined digital process for eligible Somaliland passport holders planning short-term visits for tourism, business, family visits, or other authorized purposes.

The development comes as relations between Israel and Somaliland continue to attract regional and international attention, with growing diplomatic and economic engagement between the two sides.

Prospective travelers are encouraged to review the latest entry requirements and ensure all travel documents meet Israeli immigration regulations before departure.
