
HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn Post) Somaliland President Abdirahman Irro met Kenyan MP Mpuru Aburi and an investment delegation in Hargeisa to strengthen trade, investment and economic cooperation between Somaliland and Kenya.
President of the Repubic of Somaliland H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro) received Kenyan Member of Parliament Mpuru Aburi and a delegation of investors at the Presidential Palace on Saturday, as both sides discussed strengthening political, economic and investment cooperation between Somaliland and Kenya.
According to a statement from the Somaliland Presidency, the meeting focused on expanding bilateral relations, promoting trade, attracting investment and creating new economic opportunities that would benefit both countries and their people.
President Irro welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed Somaliland’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation, encouraging foreign investment and creating a favorable business environment for sustainable economic growth.
He said Somaliland remains open to international investors and partnerships, highlighting the country’s abundant natural resources and growing opportunities across multiple sectors.
The meeting was attended by WADDANI Party Chairman Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan and Deputy Chairman Mohamed Haji Yusuf (Wabeyo).
Kenyan MP Mpuru Aburi, who represents Tigania East Constituency, thanked President Irro for the warm reception and pledged to support stronger relations between Somaliland and Kenya.
Aburi said he would play an active role in promoting cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment and economic development, while encouraging stronger engagement between businesses and institutions in both countries.
The meeting reflects Somaliland’s continued efforts to attract foreign investment and deepen economic partnerships with regional stakeholders as it seeks to expand international trade and commercial opportunities.
