WASHINGTON/TEHRAN (Horn Post) The United States has carried out a third consecutive night of military strikes against Iran, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed, following reports of explosions across several locations in southern Iran.
According to CENTCOM, the latest operation began at approximately 4:45 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, corresponding to around midnight in Tehran, and was conducted under the orders of President Donald Trump, who serves as Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.
In an official statement, CENTCOM said the campaign is aimed at degrading Iran’s military capabilities and reducing its ability to threaten civilians and commercial shipping transiting the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes.
“The operations will continue with the objective of inflicting significant losses on Iranian military forces and limiting their capacity to conduct attacks against civilian targets and international maritime traffic,” CENTCOM said.
The announcement came shortly after Iranian media reported multiple explosions in the country’s southern coastal region.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported powerful explosions near Konarak around midnight local time. Similar reports also emerged from Lark Island and Chabahar.
Tasnim further reported that Iranian air defense systems were activated in Bandar Abbas, while denying reports of explosions in Lar and Sirik.
Meanwhile, Iranian military sources claimed that an American MQ-1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was targeted over the Strait of Hormuz. The sources said the engagement was carried out using newly deployed advanced air defense systems operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as part of Iran’s integrated national air defense network.
The latest military exchanges underscore the rapidly escalating confrontation between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns about regional stability and the security of global energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
Neither U.S. officials nor Iranian authorities have released casualty figures or assessed the extent of damage from the latest strikes. The situation remains fluid as both sides continue military operations.
