WAJAALE, Somaliland (Horn post) Senior officials from the Ministry of Education of Somaliland have launched a major student awareness and preparation campaign in the Gabiley Region ahead of Somaliland’s nationwide 2026 national examinations scheduled to begin later this month.
The delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Education Mohamed Mousa Haji Abdi Galleydh, accompanied by senior education officials including Somaliland National Examinations Office Chairman Da’ud Ahmed Farah, Deputy Chairman Hassan Mohamed Qalinle, and several departmental directors from the Ministry of Education.
The officials traveled on an official working and awareness mission to Gabiley region, where they held a major educational awareness meeting for Grade 12 secondary school students and Grade 8 middle school students in the border town of Wajale.
The visit forms part of a broader nationwide campaign aimed at preparing students psychologically and academically ahead of the 2025–2026 academic year national certificate examinations.
During the event, Chairman of the Somaliland National Examinations Office Da’ud Ahmed Farah said he remains optimistic about the readiness level and confidence shown by students preparing to sit for this year’s national exams, which are officially scheduled to begin on June 27, 2026.
Farah said students he met during the awareness sessions demonstrated strong confidence, positive morale and encouraging levels of preparedness, factors he described as highly promising indicators for exam success this year.
“The students’ morale this year is extremely positive. We do not know what lies ahead, but from what we have seen, they appear ready to succeed. Their confidence seems very strong, and we are hopeful they will achieve success,” Da’ud Ahmed Farah said during the event.
The examinations chairman extended his best wishes to all students across Somaliland who will sit for the national examinations, expressing hope that candidates will achieve strong academic results and successfully move forward in their educational journeys.
The awareness event was held inside the conference hall of Wajale Local Government authorities, bringing together district officials, local education leaders, school administrators, teachers and hundreds of students preparing for the upcoming examinations.
Officials used the meeting to deliver educational awareness speeches focused on strengthening student preparedness and increasing awareness around the importance of responsible exam conduct.
A major part of the campaign focused on warning students against examination malpractice and cheating, which education officials said could seriously damage exam performance and negatively affect students’ final academic results.
Officials urged candidates to approach the examinations with discipline, honesty and confidence while relying entirely on their own preparation rather than illegal methods during testing.
The awareness campaign forms part of the Somaliland Education Ministry’s wider preparations for the 2025–2026 national certificate examinations, which serve as one of the country’s most important annual education assessments for students completing middle school and secondary education.
National examinations across Somaliland are expected to officially begin in the final days of June 2026, with education authorities continuing nationwide preparation campaigns to ensure students are academically prepared and fully informed before examination day.
Education officials say similar awareness campaigns are expected to continue in other regions of Somaliland as authorities intensify final preparations ahead of one of the country’s largest annual academic exercises.
