
HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) Minister of Interior and Security of the Republic of Somaliland H.E Abdalle Mohamed Arab, on Monday received Somaliland UNICEF and UN coordination Representative Tedla M. Damte at his office as the senior United Nations official prepares to conclude his assignment in Somaliland.
During the meeting, Damte expressed appreciation for the strong cooperation and productive working relationship that UNICEF and UN coordination Hargeisa and Somaliland’s Ministry of Interior and Security maintained throughout his tenure. He said the partnership had been characterized by continuous collaboration and constructive engagement, adding that the experience would remain a lasting part of his professional career.
The outgoing UNITED NATION representative highlighted the importance of the cooperation between the ministry and UNICEF and UN coordination Hargeisa in advancing initiatives that support children and communities across Somaliland.
Minister Abdalle Mohamed Arab, in turn, thanked Damte for his contributions and commitment to strengthening cooperation between UNICEF and the Somaliland government. He praised the outgoing official’s experience and leadership in facilitating effective coordination between United Nations agencies and Somaliland authorities, particularly the Ministry of Interior and Security.
Minister of Interior and Security of the Republic of Somaliland H.E Abdalle Mohamed Arab noted that Damte played a significant role in enhancing institutional collaboration and fostering mutual understanding between international development partners and government institutions.
Minister Abdale Mohamed Arab also expressed confidence that Damte’s successor would continue building on the strong partnership and positive relations established between Somaliland’s Ministry of Interior and Security UNICEF and United Nations agencies operating in the country.
The meeting underscored the continued cooperation between Somaliland authorities and UNICEF and UN coordination Hargeisa in supporting development, governance, and child-focused programs across the region.
