
HELSINKI, Finland (Horn Post) — The Somaliland community in Finland has honored a delegation from the Somaliland National Electoral Commission (NEC) with a Certificate of Appreciation during an official working visit to the Nordic country.
The recognition ceremony was organized by the Somaliland diaspora community in Finland, led by community chairman Hassan Omar Hurre, alongside community leaders and members who gathered to welcome the visiting electoral officials.
The delegation was headed by NEC Chairman Muse Hassan Yusuf and included senior officials from Somaliland’s electoral body. The visit forms part of the commission’s ongoing international engagement and efforts to strengthen ties with Somaliland communities abroad.
During the event, Hassan Omar Hurre commended the National Electoral Commission for its commitment to strengthening democratic governance and managing the significant responsibilities entrusted to it in overseeing Somaliland’s electoral processes.
He praised the commission’s leadership and its role in maintaining public confidence in Somaliland’s democratic institutions, highlighting the importance of free, credible and transparent elections.
In response, NEC Chairman Muse Hassan Yusuf and members of the delegation expressed their gratitude to the Somaliland community in Finland for the warm reception and hospitality extended during their visit.
The electoral officials said the recognition reflects the strong relationship between Somaliland’s democratic institutions and its diaspora communities, whose continued engagement plays an important role in supporting national development and democratic progress.
The delegation also noted that the appreciation award symbolizes the enduring partnership and cooperation between Somaliland’s electoral authorities and Somalilanders living abroad, particularly those actively contributing to the promotion of democracy and good governance.
The event concluded with renewed commitments to strengthen collaboration between the National Electoral Commission and diaspora communities as Somaliland continues to advance its democratic development and electoral achievements.
