HARGEISA, Somaliland (Horn post) The outgoing mayor of Hargeisa Abdikarim Ahmed Moge held formal introductory and advisory meetings with the newly appointed mayor Eng Abdirisaq Wiwa and deputy mayor Adan Middeye of the capital’s local government as part of the official leadership transition process.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Hargeisa municipality, including department heads, directors and office managers, in what participants described as a respectful and cooperative atmosphere focused on continuity and public service.
Discussions centered on the importance of maintaining essential community services, strengthening institutional cooperation among municipal departments and accelerating development projects across the capital.
The outgoing mayor Abdikarim Ahmed Moge urged the incoming leadership to prioritize efficient service delivery, transparency and public accountability, while commending municipal staff and officials for their contributions to the city’s development and urban beautification efforts in recent years.
The new mayor Eng Abdirisaq Wiwa and deputy mayor Adan Middeye also pledged to continue ongoing development initiatives and enhance collaboration between the administration, municipal employees and the residents of Hargeisa.
The leadership transition comes as Hargeisa continues to expand infrastructure and public service programs aimed at supporting the city’s growing population and economic development.
