Three U.S. Soldiers Killed in Iran Attack, CENTCOM Confirms.

Washington / Middle East (Horn post) Three United States service members have been killed in an attack linked to Iran, marking the first American military fatalities since the launch of U.S. airstrikes against Iran over the weekend, according to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

In a statement, U.S. military officials said that five additional American soldiers sustained serious injuries during the same incident. The wounded personnel are receiving medical treatment, and their conditions were described as severe.

CENTCOM confirmed that the identities of the deceased soldiers have not yet been released, in line with U.S. military protocol. Officials said the names will be made public after a minimum of 24 hours, once next of kin have been formally notified.

The deaths represent the first confirmed U.S. casualties since airstrikes targeting sites inside Iran began on Saturday, significantly raising the stakes in the escalating confrontation between Washington and Tehran.

Official Warnings Ahead of Operation

When announcing the U.S. military operation against Iran, President Donald Trump acknowledged the risks involved, warning that American forces could suffer losses.

“Soldiers will die. There will be death and injury. That is something that happens in wars,” Trump said at the time, underscoring the potential human cost of the campaign.

Growing Concerns Over Escalation

The confirmation of U.S. troop fatalities has intensified concerns about a broader escalation of the conflict, as Iran and the United States continue to exchange military actions directly and through regional proxies.

U.S. defense officials have not disclosed the exact location of the attack or the specific unit involved, citing operational security. However, the incident is expected to prompt renewed debate in Washington over the scope and duration of U.S. military involvement.

As tensions remain high, international observers continue to call for restraint, warning that further casualties could deepen instability across the Middle East.
