TEL AVIV, Israel (Horn post) — A delegation of 25 professionals and senior officials from Somaliland’s Ministry of Water Development and municipal water agencies has arrived in Israel to participate in a specialized training program on sustainable water management in urban centers, officials said.

The tailored program, organized under Israel’s international development cooperation framework, focuses on improving urban water systems, resource efficiency, and long-term water sustainability strategies.

The training was officially opened by Ambassador Ronny Yedidya Clein, Special Envoy for Global Water Affairs at MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation.

He welcomed the Somaliland delegation and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in addressing global and regional water challenges, particularly in arid and semi-arid environments.

Officials said the program aims to equip Somaliland water professionals with practical tools and technical expertise to improve water infrastructure management in rapidly growing urban areas.

The Somaliland delegation’s participation reflects expanding technical cooperation between the two sides, particularly in water resource development, infrastructure planning, and capacity building.

The opening ceremony concluded with a traditional toast, with participants expressing optimism for a productive and successful training experience.
