
MOGADISHU, Somalia (HornPost) Somalian President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received the diplomatic credentials of seven newly appointed ambassadors representing Algeria, Brazil, India, Mali, Myanmar, Nigeria and Pakistan at the National Presidential Palace in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
The credentials ceremony marked the formal start of the ambassadors’ diplomatic assignments in Somalia and comes as Mogadishu seeks to strengthen political, economic and security cooperation with international partners.
The newly accredited ambassadors are:
- Mohamed Alim — Algeria
- Joao Alfredo Dos Anjos — Brazil
- Dr. Adarsh Swaika — India
- Dr. Madou Diallo — Mali
- Aung Min Oo — Myanmar
- Danlami Ibrahim — Nigeria
- Aqsa Nawaz — Pakistan
During the meetings, President Hassan Sheikh received briefings from the ambassadors on their diplomatic priorities and plans for strengthening bilateral relations between Somalia and their respective countries.
Somalia Seeks Stronger Diplomatic and Economic Ties
President Hassan Sheikh welcomed the new ambassadors and expressed hope that their diplomatic missions would contribute to stronger relations between Somalia and the seven countries.
According to the Somali presidency, the discussions covered opportunities for cooperation in politics, economic development, security and social affairs.
The president emphasized the importance of strengthening longstanding friendship and cooperation between Somalia and its international partners, while encouraging the ambassadors to support initiatives that can contribute to Somalia’s development.

Algeria and Somalia
